Seabirds, also known as marine birds, have adapted themselves according to the marine ecosystem. These birds do not find any difficulty in venturing out in the saltwater or tropical or extreme climates. A number of seabirds have adapted to the environment in which they live.
Some seabirds hunt for food on the surface whereas some plunge into the water to hunt for fishes and other marine invertebrates. Some birds indulge in pursuit diving where the dive as far as 10 metres in water and hunt down their prey in a flash. There are also a number of scavengers that feed on dead and decaying food or sometimes snatching food from other birds. In this category, we will cover penguins, gulls, boobies, tropicbirds, terns, etc.
It is worth noting that only seabirds fall in the category of birds that can be found in the uninhabited continent of Antarctica. A number of these birds make colonies and their brooding colonies thrive without the fear of any human intervention.
